Assessment of a Strategic Partnership

The Opportunity: The Future Foundation formed a strategic partnership with other community agencies to provide support services to students at-risk of dropping out of high school.  The partnership focused on one low-performing high school cluster.  The Future Foundation was interested in assessing this model to determine if it could be scaled for replication in other similar school clusters as a mechanism to extend the reach and impact of the organization.

Our Services: GSG conducted an organizational assessment in order to strengthen, and potentially replicate, the partnership model.  The assessment included:

  • Interviews with partner representatives, including teachers, counselors, principals, program staff, and administrators

  • Focus groups with students served through the program

  • Focus groups with parents of students in the program, and those not in the program

  • Program observations

  • Review of administrative processes and procedures

  • Benchmarking of similar partnerships in other communities to examine processes for referral, intake, registration, data management, service delivery, and administrative operations including technology, accounting, and hiring.

Results: A gap analysis was completed with recommendations for improvement, resulting in an implementation roadmap.   GSG was subsequently invited to facilitate a strategy session with external experts to provide guidance on the replication model and necessary processes.
