The Advanced Technology Development Center
Strategic Planning Support
The Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech is Georgia’s technology incubator. Founded in 1980, ATDC has developed a global reputation for fostering technological entrepreneurship. Through a unique framework combining curriculum, coaching, connections, and community, ATDC helps technology startups succeed. ATDC had not revisited its strategy since its inception almost 30 years ago.
As a pre-approved vendor with Georgia Tech Strategic Consulting Services, GSG is called upon regularly to support strategy needs of the university. We provided the following services to support the development of a strategic plan for ATDC:
Reviewed historical performance
Facilitated staff input into an organizational assessment and environmental scan
Interviewed more than 20 key informants from university leaders, ATDC companies, public and private-sector partners, funders, and policy makers
Facilitated a steering committee to develop priority five-year outcomes, strategic themes within which to focus improvement, and a set of strategic initiatives to address improvement objectives within each strategic theme.
The strategic plan has been shared with university leaders and the ATDC Advisory Board. Several strategic initiatives are moving toward implementation.
